| Help : The Esis search service helps you find specific information on various aspects of Information Society contained in the Esis Knowledge Base. Here's how it works. Simple search: You tell the search service what you're looking for by typing keywords or phrases into the search box. For example, you can either use a whole word such as, internet or you could use some connected words such as year 2000 . The search engine is not case-sensitive. If you want to search for a number of similar words such as internet, extranet and network you can add a * before the part of the word which is common to all the words you are searching for. In this case one would enter *net. The * can follow the word thus enabling you to search for a number of words with a common root. An example being inter* , which would enable you to search for words such as internet, interconnect and internal at the same time. Please note that if you enter more than one word the search engine will treat each word separately and will retrieve all the pages that contain both the words, but not necessarily in the order you entered them. If you want to search for an exact phrase then it is necessary to add a " either side of your phrase. An example being "year 2000" . You can restrict the selection to a specific field, a specific area or a specific country. The search engine will search for the chosen keyword/s in the field/s selected by the user in the Find Results on section. The user can select one, some or all of the fields according to his or her preference. By selecting a region or a specific country in the drop down box entitled Area/country concerned the user can limit his or her search to that area/country alone. Advanced search: You can use the advanced search module to interrogate the database logically and in detail. For example, you can select projects which use a specific technology. The search service responds by giving you a list of all the IS projects, promotional actions, organisations and contact persons that correspond to your search. A specific help facility is available for each type of advanced search. |
