Business and Regulatory Constraints

There still have been debates on
the reforms of the government policy towards the
telecommunication sector, and information technologies in
general.
2. Inventory of the Major
" Public " Utilities with a Potential for use
in IS Applications
- Algerian Radio and Television
(RTA): It has been developed since 1962 to have a wider
geographical scope at the national level. By 1986 a new
restructuring policy paved the way for four (4) companies
which are:
- Entreprise Nationale de
Radiodiffusion Sonore (ENRS)
- Entreprise Nationale de
Television (ENTV)
- Entreprise Nationale de
Telediffusion (ENTD)
- Entreprise Nationale de
Production Audiovisuelle (ENPA)
The Algerian Radio has set a
program in order to develop, reinforce and renovate the existing
technical tools and equipment. It is also aiming at the creation
of new local channels.
- TDA (Tele diffusion of
Algeria) ensures the diffusion and transmission of sound
broadcasting and television in Algeria and abroad.
- Ministry of Health has got an
alternative network as far as its institutions
(hospitals, health administrations, etc) are concerned.
This network may be developed into a more elaborate one
to meet the request of the IS and the technologies it
involves.
