September 2000	ESIS II Communication - Estonia

Press Conference - 25 May 2000

This Press Conference was organised by the Estonian ESIS II Team with the objectives of introducing the main results of the first half of the ESIS II Survey and making a comparison between Estonia and other countries, as well as outlining the future perspectives of the Information Society and the critical factors in its future development.

The event was led by Mr Tarmo Kalvet. There were three main speakers:

• Mr Ahri Palosuo (Head of the European Delegation to Estonia)

• Mr Linnar Viik (Advisor to the Prime Minister)

• Dr Merik Meriste (University and Tartu and Archimedes Foundation)

Mr Linnar Viik made a presentation on Information Society developments in Estonia and the importance of the ESIS II project in providing objective analysis and information necessary for policy planning and evaluation.

Infocom 2000 (April 27-29. 2000, Estonian Fairs Centre, Tallinn)

Mr Tarmo Kalvet and Mr Marek Tiits promoted ESIS II at the Conference and Fair, Infocom 2000: International Information and Communication Technology, Broadcasting, Consumer Electronics, Advertising and Media Fair.
