Arvutimaailm
Arvutimaailm is
the only journal in Estonia that is oriented towards wide target
groups. It tries to introduce information and communication
technologies using common language, but as the authors see IT
professionals also as target groups, the journal has special
sections dedicated to professional issues.
As ESIS provides background information on Estonian developments towards information society the press release prepared by Estonian ESIS Team was published in the journal. The press release is dedicated to the updates of Estonian web-site where the collection of links was opened. Among other links there is also a link to Eurobarometer 50.1 that is briefly summarised. In the article the history of ESIS and the current stage is described as well.
The Estonian Informatics Centre publishes the journal.
Baltic IT Review
Besides producing reports and
updating databases, one of the tasks of ESIS is to disseminate
information about information society developments in different
countries. Tarmo Kalvet published an article in the Baltic
IT Review which focuses on the possible gap between
information 'haves' and information 'have-nots' and the role
public Internet access points can play in equalising the
differences between these two groups in society.
Reference to the ESIS project was made and the results of the project were used.
FEMIRC Newsletter
The ESIS Team also published an article in the FEMIRC Newsletter that disseminates information about EU innovation activities. This newsletter's Estonian readership is over 600 strong.
In the last newsletter of the year the project managers of different (mainly EU) innovation projects summarised the activities of 1999. Tarmo Kalvet, as project manager of ESIS was invited to write a short article on ESIS activities and future developments.
