PUBLIC STRATEGIES FOR THE INFORMATION SOCIETY IN THE MEMBER STATES OF THE EUROPEAN UNION
The report provides an overview of Information Society strategies in the Member States and the implementation actions.
Some key points highlighted in the report :
- Information Society is now a top priority for all European Union Governments
- All of the Member States of the European Union have devoted significant resources in awareness raising, developing infrastructures, defining regulatory frameworks, establishing education programmes and investing in application and service pilots
- Key words are competence, skills, confidence, security, accessibility, quality of life and modernisation of public administration (eGovernment), ecommerce and life-long learning and training
The report involves a short introduction to the IS strategies being developed and implemented by the 15 Member States of the European Union. In addition, short national state-of-play overviews are provided.
Also historical background information is provided through description of the main national milestones in IS strategy formulation.
