ESIS extension / Key Person Contacts and Organisations / Albania / Update Memo 2

During the period 1 July 1999 - 1 October 1999, new key person contacts have emerged through the development of the ESIS II project. These members belong to the ESIS project task force/steering committee, which is engaged in the issues of information and telecommunication services such as: identifying the most important issues for the information society in Albania, identification of the existing tools of information, designing the agenda for the future development.

The members are representatives from the Ministry of Information (the Minister and the Head of Cabinet), Alb-Telekom (Deputy General Director), the Ministry of Public Economy and Privatization (Director of Privatization Department), the Ministry of Education and Science (Director of the Research Department), the Telecommunication Regulatory Entity (Director of Radio-communication and Internet), and the NGO Forum (Chairman of Forum).

The committee will directly carry out all the activities that have planned completion dates during the latter months of 1999. The objective is to facilitate the development process of an information network, as well as enabling as many organisations as possible to have access to the Information Society. The first meeting of this steering committee was held on 22 September 1999. The members of this committee are as follows:
