Update November 2000: Bosnia and Herzegovina

1. Information Society Key Person Contacts and Organisations

The overall situation with regard to information society development in Bosnia and Herzegovina is still dominated by the financial, economic, and especially political situations in the territory. Both federal and the governments of both entities make substantial efforts to pursue economic growth. The first steps toward privatisation, which includes registration of population for vouchers, are finished or almost finished in both entities.

In the past quarter, there have been substantial changes in the government of the Republic of Srpska. Delegates of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska votes against the government of Prime Minister Mr. Milorad Dodik.

The Medical Faculty in Banja Luka is connected to the Computer Network of the University in Banja Luka. The backbone of the Academic and Research Network of the Republic of Srpska should be realised in the future.

There are no new Internet providers in this period.
