Update November 2000: Cyprus

In the period from July 2000 to September 2000 there have not been major changes in the local environment with regard to the development and exploitation of IS projects.

Although the private sector, and more specifically, the banking industry still have a very strong presence in terms of IS projects, there is also a significant number of public projects under way. These are primarily under the Government’s "Information Systems Strategy" driven by the Department of Information Technology Services and include the Government Internet Service project, the Government Data Network project , the Office Automation Pilot project and the Health Information Support System.
