Update November 2000: Algeria

On the political scene, a new Prime Minister has been appointed. Mr Ahmed Benbitour has been replaced by Mr Ali Benflis.

Mr Mahieddine Amimour has been appointed as the new Minister of Communication and Culture in replacement to Mr Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The population is waiting from this new government a concrete application of the telecommunication new law (adopted by the previous government)

Ten new ISPs got their agreement during this third quarter of the year. It means that the Internet evolution in Algeria is developing. This increase will bring about more facility of access.

The CACI ( Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) which is taking part in many ICT activities towards SMEs concerning economic and industrial affairs is getting more active these months for the promotion of co-operation actions and different partnerships in the Med area.
