The public centers that offer access to the Net, contributing to the IS penetration to the Tunisian society, is an entity worth mentioning. These centers are the result of a project still under development.

A broad project concerning the creation of public centers of Internet access has been launched from October 1998 and is already operational and still continuing. These centers are called PUBLINET (Centres publics des telecommunications de type Internet) and are located in lesser-developed regions of the country. Their main aim is the creation of new jobs for young entrepreneurs. A list of the 25 PUBLINETs already operating is given below:
