Current activities in the first quarter of 2000 within Tunisia include the establishment of a National Commission for Distance Education (Internet and Education) by the Minister of Telecommunications and an increase in the number of PUBLINETS.
1. Internet Providers and Networks
As previously mentioned in the second quarter report, PUBLINETS are public centers of Internet access aiming at creating new jobs for young entrepreneurs. Following is a list of other remote centers that have been established.

2. Ministries & Regulatory Bodies
The Minister of Telecommunications, Mr Ahmed Friaa, has set up a National Commission on Distance Education (Internet and Education), where studies, models, financial evaluations and the collection of course contents are undertaken. There are a number of organizations offering their expertise in fulfilling the objectives of this National Commission. Some of these companies are ISETCOM, ATI, IRSIT, CERT, SUPCOM, ONP, ONT and Tunisie Telecom.
