Chronological updates of the ESIS site

1st March 2001 >>>	The mainstream ESIS project has ended on March 1st 2001 with the release on the site of the 7th delivery of reports. However, 6 countries will deliver additional reports until September 2001 and the site will be updated accordingly (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Egypt, Hungary, FYR of Macedonia and Slovakia).

2 May 2000 >>>	The ESIS Knowledge Base now includes the ESIS 1 Initiative (which covers the 15 EU Members States) as well. Key features of ESIS 1 (as of January 1999) can be searched with the search engine: reports on regulatory developments and alternative networks, database of IS promotional activities, database of IS projects and key persons contacts and organisations, etc. Nota: An *update campaign* is in progress as far as *IS projects* included in the database are concerned; some new/updated r*eports on public IS strategies* in the EU Member States and *basic technology indicators* will be *available on-line in July / August 2000.*

20 April 2000 >>>	Announcement of ESIS Workstation at the European Ministerial Conference entitled "Information Society: Accelerating European Integration" to be held in Warsaw 11-12 May 2000.

10 March 2000 >>>	Launch of the new ESIS II Knowledge Base, which will be the new site for ESIS. This is a new approach which places the search engine at the core of the access process. The concept is to build a multi-sourced Knowledge Base that can be interrogated from a unique entry point. The output (the result of a search) will be integrative and harmonised and without regard to the original format of the information (documents or database). Information can be searched for in 3 ways : Traditional access via the menu A simple search (main page) Advanced search on projects, promotional activities, key persons contacts and organisations and documents (reports and other ESIS II information) The database of IS projects, promotional activities and key person contacts and organisations are on-line, in conjunction with their accompanying memos.
