There have not been any significant developments in terms of promotion of the IS national strategy in the past quarter. However, there have been 4 main promotional events in which awareness building of IS has taken place in the course of the past quarter. These are described below.

2. Interesting Actions / Initiatives
The last quarter has seen four major activities taking place in Egypt that focused primarily on computer knowledge and tools, and communications. The activities were as follows :
2.1 Careeregypt.com introduces Egypts first career Tools Seminar (CTS)
On the 18 th of June, careeregypt.com organised the first career tools seminar (CTS) in the Conrad International Hotel, together with The Cooperation and Development Association for Egyptian and European Youth (CDAEEY) to organize the event, The purpose of this seminar was to help introduce and inform more than 300 Egyptian University graduates about how to better improve their chances of finding the right job and career path.
2.2 CompuAlex Alexandria 2000
A number of local computer companies (more than 24) participated in the Alexandria CompuAlex 2000 fair, held in the period between 1 and 7 July 2000.
2.3 Communication Expo Vision 2000
The Communication Expo Vision 2000 fair was held in the period between 6 and 10 September 2000. More than 60 companies operating in the communications field participated in the event.
2.4 CompuKnowledge 7
The Compuknowledge fair was held in the period between 21-24 September 2000, organized by "The Egyptian Society for Computer Companies". The main sponsor was Microsoft. Participants in the event included local computer companies.
In addition to the above, it should be noted that the Egypt International Computer User Group (EICUG), a Cairo-based forum for computer users and IT specialists, holds meetings on the third Monday of every month. EICUG, is a nonprofit organization founded three years ago. Its members include both IT novices and seasoned industry experts. The EICUG occasionally offers training sessions on practical issues such as usage of web design software or how to take apart a computer to install new hardware.
