Update October 1999: Latvia

The focus on the Latvian devlopment of IS lies on establishement of governmental strategies. The gone by quarter has shown further signs of this by the establishment of further major governmentally initiated activities:

Concept for Action and Development of the Non-profit Organisation State Joint Stock Company "State Information Network Agency" (VITA)
Action Plan for Development of the Integrated Information System of State Significance -- Megasystem

The quarter has also proved the interest for professional organisations by the initiation of the LITTA, (Latvian Information Technology and Telecommunication Association of Lativa).
