Update October 1999: Malta

In August 1999 the Government formally launched the Central Information Management Unit (CIMU) to prepare the strategy for the use of IT in the Public Service and oversee its implementation. It gained overall responsibility for the government's ICT networks.

In August 1999 the publishers of the local ICT magazine PCWorld Malta (http://www.bms.com.mt/pcworld) launched an on-line resource centre about Y2K (http://www.bms.com.mt/y2k) . The center was launched during a conference about Malta's Y2K readiness.

Two lecturers at the Junior College in Msida in July concluded a survey about the use of Internet by high school and University students. This is one of the few public surveys about Internet in Malta.
