Update Memo

The following memo outlines new developments in the past three months and the state of on-going developments.

1. Media and Telecommunication markets

An audio-visual production Society will be set up before 2000 according to J.I. algerian newspaper n° 393 of 17th August 1999.The Society will have public status and will be open to public and private investments. It will take in charge the production of audio-visual emissions and programs inheriting from three former audio-visual enterprises: ENPA, ANAF, CAAIC.

2. Tariff changes

The advent of new Internet providers will have sooner impact in tariff connections and hopefully the phone’s bill of P. and T. will follow. Therefore, CERIST is considering new tariff policy for cybercafé connections, suppressing forfeit prices and assigning proper IP to each connection.
