![]() Update: Bosnia |
This is the final WWW Indicators report on Bosnia as the ESIS project ended in January 2001. It covers the whole period of the ESIS project surveying the Countries of Central and Eastern Europe, March 1999 - January 2001 inclusive.
1. WWW Indicators Update October 2000 - January 2001
Compared to the actual possibilities and needs, there is still an unsatisfactory number of official WWW sites, mainly as a result of the financial and economic problems.
In the last three months, there have been major changes in the number of new active WWW sites, in the categories of interest. Actually, the number of Web sites in category "Primary and secondary schools" increased from 16 to 30, the number of Web sites in category "Regional and local authorities" increased from 46 to 55, and the number of Web sites in category "Hospitals/Clinics" increased from 20 to 40.
Data presented in this report is based on information collected from a number of WWW sites, specified in the table below.

2. Evolution of the WWW Indicators over the whole ESIS II period
Concerning the overall project period, the following key elements and factors have to be noted:
The following table shows in a general sense the evolution of the total number of websites in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the project period. From this table, it can be easily seen that the total number of websites is continuously growing. However, these numbers are not satisfactory and are expected to grows in the next few years, until the complete country will be connected.
