Update: Bulgaria

During the last quarter the increase of Web sites of schools and regional / local authorities was more considerable. A significant increase in the number of visitors to some university Web sites was observed because of the published information for the admittance of new students.

At the Swedish – Bulgarian IT-conference (13 – 14 September 2000) the Deputy Minister of Economy and Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian E-commerce Interdepartmental Consultative Group announced the plans to implement an Online Administration project in co-operation with ERICSSON. The main objective of this Business-to-Administration E-commerce project is to establish a single entry point providing online access to the state administration via Internet. In the first stage, the customers will have the opportunity to obtain all the necessary information and documents – such as licenses, authorisation, certificates, quotas, etc. issued by the state administration. In the second stage, an online interactive information exchange system will be established. This system will allow an electronic exchange of documents with different government institutions. According to the schedule the project has to be finalised by mid-2001.
