More 150 new WWW sites were established in this sector during past three months. The new direction - fast development of information and search systems was noticed. Under development are the servers: www.realestate.lt - for information in real estate trading, www.prekyba.lt - server for IT&T products and services, www.fez.lt - information about Lithuania free economic zones. Lithuania Airlines developed the first on-line www-based booking service at www.lal.lt . Under development were earlier established information systems at www.5ci.lt , www.omnitel.lt .

At least 3 information servers in at Ministries were established during summer time. One of them www.smm.infocentras.lt , at Ministry of Science and Education was established under PHARE support to develop the integration of Lithuania education and science in the EU system. Other servers especially in Lithuania Government Ministries and Institutions became more informative and better designed. Newest Government Decrees and other information can be obtained at www.lrvk.lt .

Department of Science and Studies at Ministry of Science and Education established the new server www.mokslas.lt , for presentation of science and research activities. No remarkable changes were fixed in other institutions.

During past three months Lithuania Open Society (Soros) Foundation supported the establishment of 4 www sites in Lithuania museums and 5 www sites in health care institutions. Other supported area was the development of information and search systems in tourism, health care sector, libraries and museums. The OSF supported for establishment of 8 information system in all sectors was approved. New direction in presentation of Lithuania culture was based on the development of electronic publishing. On 450th Anniversary of the First Lithuanian Book by Martynas Mazvydas the first electronic book was created at site www.daugenis.mch.mii.lt . Few new projects of electronic publishing, virtual exhibitions and virtual museums are under development.

* 10 districts, 44 regions and 12 city municipalities have WWW sites under PHARE support. Very few local authorities in rural area are presented on Internet.
