Update: FYR Macedonia

1. The large increase of Web sites was notice in the Education sector

Increased bandwidth on the international Internet links, construction of the national backbone - MTnet, and reduced prices for all Internet services, are contributing to the increase of interest on Internet, especially in the Education sector and private companies market.

To the increased number of web sites in the Education sector was also contributed the Open Society Institute - Macedonia (OSIM) projects development in this field. The OSIM aims at supporting and funding institutions of open society. In the field of Information Society, the Institute financially supports various educational and cultural projects and provides Internet connections. There are about thirty programmes through which the Institute has primarily carried out its humanitarian activity, aiming at the contribution to Macedonia's easier overcome through the stage of transition. In this context, the Institute has invested in the field of modernisation of the Education sector namely involving the Information Society infrastructures and services.
