ESIS stands for
"European Survey of Information Society Projects and Actions"
ESIS 1
covered the 15 EU Member States between 1997 and 1999. A partial update process is on-going (see

).
ESIS 2
is the extension to 25 countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean area (1999 - 2001).
ESIS is funded by the PROMISE programme.
